Tree plantation campaign begins at DU

DHAKA: A tree plantation campaign began on the Dhaka University campus Sunday.

Arboriculture Office of the university and DU Brikkhayan O Soundaryabardhan Committee jointly organized the campaign.

Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest at a function at Mal Chattar on the campus.

The campaign began with the plantation of a sapling at the Chattar.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (administration) Professor Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad and Treasurer Professor Kamal Uddin also spoke the function.

As part of the tree plantation campaign, five hundred saplings of fruit bearing, medicinal and forestry trees will be planted in this season.
