United to fly Dhaka-Doha, Dhaka-Karachi in Nov

DHAKA: United Airways (BD) Limited, the country’s leading largest private airline, will start flying on Dhaka-Doha and Dhaka-Karachi routes from November next to carry passengers from Bangladesh.

United Airways, the first ever public limited company in aviation sector of Bangladesh, is now operating more international routes from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu and Kolkata.

United Airways is also operating flights from Chittagong to Muscat and Kolkata.

United Airways (BD) Limited has planned to operate 7 flights to Doha and Karachi each sector. United Airways (BD) Limited started its journey on July 10, 2007.

The airline is operating flights to all major domestic sectors from Dhaka. It will operate Dhaka to Yangon by the end of this year.  

Chairman and Managing Director of United Airways Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury said, “We have already obtained the permission from Qatar and Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority to operate the routes with our own aircraft and will fly to Doha and Karachi from end of this year.”

He added: “The allocation of more flight frequencies for the private airlines was due to a change in the government policy, as it seeks to inject competition in the aviation industry.”

The managing director also said, “We will fly to other Gulf destinations including Riyadh, Dammam, Abu Dhabi and Far East Asia’s Singapore also. Gulf is the most important market for Bangladeshi airlines as one in two people who fly abroad goes to the six Gulf countries which employ more than 60 percent of the country’s over Six million migrant workers, he added.

“We shall make all the happenings to retain our present market share and will try hard to expand our operation in both domestic and international sectors,” he said.

He said, “We are pledge bond to satisfy our passengers and we hope we will be able to do it Inshallah.”
