DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, also opposition leader, asked ruling Awami League to justify popularity by leaving power.
“Come out leaving power. Create level playing field and justify your popularity,” she said indicating the government.
The opposition chief country came up with the assertion while addressing 18-party’s mass rally held in front of party office in city’s Naya Paltan area Monday.
The former prime minister of the country also forewarned that no election would be allowed in the country without non-party caretaker government.
Regarding Padma Bridge, she said, “Two Padma Bridges will be constructed if they assume in power next. One at Mawa and another at Doulatdia-Paturia will be set up.”
She said, “The Padma Bridge Project has been drowned by corruption of the government. The World Bank, ADB, IDB and JICA have found corruption in the project.”
The BNP chief also claimed that no donor agency trust the government. “So, they will not finance in the project,” she claimed.
The opposition leader also alleged that the government has changed the minister to please the World Bank. “But, there is no benefit in this regard,” she said.
The mass rally was also addressed, among others, by standing committee members Barriter Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar MP, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan.
