DHAKA: BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia Monday urged the government to hold a dialogue with the opposition as soon as possible in order to save the country.
He said, “The government itself has to arrange the dialogue.”
He came up with the remarks while addressing a human chain formed in front of the national press club around 10am.
Jatiya Nagarik Sangsad organized the human chain demanding the release of top BNP leaders, including BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas.
He said, “We don’t want conflict but we believe in resist. Let us walk to the straight path of democracy.”
While talking about the caretaker government system, he said, “We will give tougher programmes if the government does not take any initiative to restore the caretaker government system within June 11.”
