DHAKA: Country’s stock market marked sharp fall in its price indices on Monday showing sign of shattering investors’ confidence.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index shed over 127 points minus to stand at 4,145 at the close on the second trading day of the week.
The volume of transactions, however, increased to Tk 1,645 million from Sunday’s Tk 1,157 million. Trade deals stood at 61,654 against the previous day’s 47,099.
Of the issues traded, 20 advanced, 241 declined and 8 remained unchanged.
GP topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 124 million having changed hands.
The other turnover leaders were BSCCL, MPETROLEUM, LAFSURCEML, SQURPHARMA, NBL, LANKABAFIN, UNIQUEHRL, TITASGAS and BEXIMCO.
Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8,015 by dropping over 206 points.
Out of the issues traded, 40 gained, 116 declined and 18 remained unchanged.
On Sunday, the benchmark indices of DSE and CSE shed 18 and 56 points respectively.
