BARISAL: A prisoner of Barisal Central Jail died at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in the district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Manik Sheikh, son of Sohrab Sheikh, of Marichbunia village under Banaripara upazila of the district.
Jailer of Barisal jail Abu Chhayem said, “He was sent to jail in a robbery case filed on September 13, 2011.”
Source said he was admitted to the jail hospital as he got high fever on Wednesday evening and later shifted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
Later, he died at the hospital around 9pm.
