HABIGANJ: A woman and her son were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Alipur Bus Stand area under Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Karimunnesa alias Shefali Akhter, 32, wife of Ruhul Amin of Uchail village and her four-year old son Mahmud Jishan.
Witnesses said a Sylhet-bound mini-truck ran over them while they were crossing the road in Alipur Bus Stand area around 9:00am, killing them on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Shayestaganj Highway Thana Rafiqul Islam told banglanews, “On information, we recovered the body and seized the truck from Natun Bridge area but the driver fled away.”
