DHAKA: This year’s Miss Universe will take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in the US city of Las Vegas.
Contestants from 89 countries have already arrived in the casino city.
They are now spending their times touring, filming, rehearsing, and making new friends as a part of preparation for the Miss Universe 2012 crown.
The pageants will be judged in three categories – swimsuit, evening gown and interview, as they vie for the coveted title to be declared on December 19.
The 61st edition of the gala event will be held at 8:00pm local time or 2:00am GMT on the day and will be aired via NBC to approximately 190 countries.
Last year’s Miss Universe Leila Lopes of Angola will crown her successor at the end of the event.
According to Wikipedia, the preliminary and national costume shows will be webcast on the official Miss Universe website and on Xbox Live.
Noted American television executive Andy Cohen and Italian-American celebrity Giuliana Rancic will anchor the final event.
The 2011 Miss Universe Pageant Third Runner Up, Shamcey Supsup of Philippines, will host the official web contents.
On December 6, the organisers will arrange a Welcome Event for the pageants.
The rehearsals will begin on December 8.
The Preliminary Competition will begin on December 13 and the National Costume Show will begin on the following day.
Once again, as a reminder, the grand finale of this year’s Miss Universe beauty contest will be held on December 19.
