LONDON: Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Abul Kalam Azad called the developed countries to patronize the cultures of smaller countries of the world.

He came up with the plea while addressing the inauguration of Edinburgh International Culture Summit at Scottish Parliament Monday.

Delegates from some 30 countries, including Brazil, Japan, Russia and USA attended the two-day conference.

The minister said, small but populous Bangladesh can nourish the compilation of world culture as it has its own cultural heritage of thousands of years.

Countries like Bangladesh could not afford to exhibit their culture to the world, he said.

He urged the rich countries to sponsor the small countries in this regard.

The slogan of the conference was ‘Culture as an International Dialogue`.

British and Scottish government along with British Council and Edinburgh international Festival Committee organized the summit.
